Many of you know our daughter, Kaela, and the incredible journey she has been on.

When Kaela was about 18 months old, she was diagnosed with a very rare chromosome disorder called 17p13.1 Microdeletion Syndrome. This condition affects her mobility, growth, development, and many other aspects of her daily life.

As a baby, Kaela couldn't roll over, crawl, stand, or build the muscle strength needed to reach those milestones. Instead, she found her own unique way of getting around by scooting across the floor on her bottom—and honestly, it was pretty adorable!

After receiving her diagnosis, we were introduced to the Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC), and that connection changed our lives. Through the dedication of their therapists, specialized programs, and equipment funded by generous donors, Kaela was given opportunities that once felt out of reach.

By the age of three, Kaela was walking independently. Over the years, RCC has continued to help her build strength, confidence, and independence. Last summer, she attended a bike camp through RCC where she worked hard to develop the balance and coordination needed to ride a bike. Watching her confidence grow throughout the program was amazing.

Thanks to the incredible support of donors through the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation, Kaela was also provided with her very own specialized bike. This wasn't just a bike—it was freedom, independence, confidence, and the chance to experience the same joy as so many other children.

Last year alone, the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation funded more than $675,000 worth of specialized equipment for children across Manitoba, including bikes, mobility devices, adaptive technology, and much more. These donations help children like Kaela achieve goals that once seemed impossible.

That's why our family is participating in Cruisin' to Change Lives, Children's Rehabilitation Foundation's 30th Anniversary fundraising event on June 7.

We would be so grateful for your support. Whether you choose to join our team, make a donation, share this post, or come out and cheer everyone on, every bit of support helps. The funds raised ensure that children and youth across Manitoba continue to receive the equipment, programs, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children and the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation have had a tremendous impact on Kaela's life. Because of them, and because of generous supporters like you, she has been able to accomplish things that at one time seemed uncertain. We know firsthand how life-changing these programs can be, and we'd love your help in making sure other families have access to the same opportunities.

Join our team, donate, or cheer us on at Cruisin' to Change Lives on June 7. We'd love to have you be part of Kaela's story and help us create more success stories for children across Manitoba.

Thank you for your support from the bottom of our hearts. ❤
